Der Schulalltag der Kinder von Ithuba beginnt früh morgens um acht. Wenn wir auf die Baustelle kommen, wird schon gespielt und getobt. Am Vormittag gibt es eine Jausenpause, zu Mittag wiederum gemeinsames Mittagessen. Dazu versammeln sich die Kinder am Küchen- und Sanitärgebäude, wo sie auf bunten Tellern ihr Mittagessen ausfassen. In der Pause und nach dem Essen ist vor allem Bewegung angesagt, auf Bäume und Gartenmauern klettern ist besonders beliebt. Manche von ihnen, die älteren, sind schon richtige Geschäftsmänner und -frauen: sie verkaufen Eis oder Kuchen an die anderen Kinder, LehrerInnen und Erwachsenen. Alle Kinder tragen eine Schuluniform in Grüntönen, nur die Kindergartenkinder der „Grade R“ nicht. An manchen Tagen findet auch nachmittags Unterricht statt, der spätestens um 16 Uhr endet. Einige Kinder spielen am Nachmittag Fußball am schuleigenen Fußballfeld. Nach der Schule werden manche von ihnen vom Schulbus nachhause gebracht, andere gehen zu Fuß. Die Lehrerinnen der Schule kommen nahezu alle aus der Umgebung. // The everyday life of the children of Ithuba starts at eight in the morning. When we come to the construction site, they are already playing in the school garden. In the morning there is a small break for a snack and again a together lunch. The children all gather at the kitchen and sanitary for building for that, where they take their lunch on colorful plates. In the break and after the meal especially movement can be noticed, climbing on trees and garden walls is particularly popular. Some of them, the older ones, are real business men and women: they sell ice cream or cake to the other children, teachers and adults. All children wear a school uniform in shades of green, only the kindergarten children of „Grade R“ don’t. On some days there are also lessons in the afternoon, ending at 4 pm at the latest. Some children play football at the school football field in the afternoon. After school, some of them are taken home by the school bus, others walk. The school’s teachers are almost all from the area.
